Today I am ready to be totally transparent and share my results after a full week of implementing what I have learned in the new nutrition course I am taking. If you missed, Enough is Enough-Why I am Making a Shift and You Should Too, be sure to check it out!
Today I will share:
SO, ABOUT THAT HYPE…
I was just as skeptical, if not more skeptical than most of you so I didn't really talk about this program too much before it launched. I really thought that this was going to be the same old stuff we already know, just repackaged in a prettier way. I thought that adding the word "mindset" was more a way to add a little buzz and hype. I had still planned all along to get the program, but not necessarily follow it, just learn about it so I could share it with others...Man would that have been a mistake!
When I started to listen to some of the original test group participants, it forced me to really take a good hard look at myself and where I had gotten with my nutrition. I realized that I didn't just need a new approach, but I had to really fix my thinking and mindset after all. Whether this could help me or not was going to be another story, but at least I realized I needed some help.
As I started watching the initial videos in this course I was blown away! I learned so much so quickly, yet it was all so simple! How had no one put this together already? This was NOT just taking what I thought I knew and repackaging it. It was simplifying some of what I already knew, yet adding so much more while actually teaching me about food at the same time.
Sure, tell me what to do, I will do it and likely be successful, but teach me how and why and the game totally changes!
So, without any hesitation I can now say yes, yes, yes! This program has absolutley and unequivocally lived up to it's hype!
WEEK 1 RESULTS
How can I so confidently say this? Well, my week one results don’t lie! I am already down 3 pounds! Sure, it fluctuated some from day to day, however, at the end of it all, I am a solid 3 down! 3 pounds down while enjoying my food, not counting calories, macros or containers, still having and enjoying cheesecake (real stuff, not some “dietiezed” version), pizza (real pizza on real crust, not cauliflower), alcohol (no “skinny” version, real stuff) and french toast (not a “heathy” version, but right from a diner)! None of those had me feeling totally derailed, defeated or guilty. I also am no longer looking at the scale as the enemy but as a piece of information that has already helped keep me moving in a positive direction!
Do I expect to lose 3 lbs a week until my goal weight? NO! That’s not how real life works and when you do lose like that, often it is harder to keep off. I will absolutley go for a steady 1-2 lbs a week if it means I am enjoying life, enjoying food and knowing I can sustain it over the long haul!
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED
I have learned what combinations of foods to eat at what meals and WHY I am eating those combinations. I am also learning why I am not eating certain things at other meals. In addition I am learning why I don’t need to be eating 5-7 times a day.
I am learning what foods are keeping me the most full and satisfied throughout the day without compromising my energy levels. AND I am learning how much of those foods to eat to continue losing weight instead of gaining or maintaining.
I have learned how to set up my kitchen and how to shop for success, but also how to be much more cost effective and efficient!
I have even learned how to enjoy social settings and special occasions in a new way that actually allows me to enjoy them for their intended purpose and not have to be stressed about eating or drinking and what it will do to the scale!
I have been given incredible tools and resources along with a phenomenal community of support to really help me be successful.
WHY YOU DON’T NEED TO GO “ALL IN” AND WHY I DON’T RECOMMEND THAT!
You need this! I am not suggesting you have not been successful in the past or are not currently being successful with a plan, but this is different. This course is about real life! This is the real deal on how to truly live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life when it comes to your nutrition.
This isn’t something I think you should have a mentality of “going all in” because that’s not what this is about! I think that is the kind of mentality that has set far too many of us up for failure in the long term. It is also the mentality that keeps us from ever getting started. We are waiting for the “perfect time” where we aren’t traveling, or where there is no holiday or special occasions, that we feel we can have total control over our food…but that isn’t real life!
NOW WHAT?
I want to answer your specific questions and help you figure out your next step! If you know you need to lose weight and gain control of your nutrition, the time is now! If you don’t want to count calories, containers or macros, this is for you! If you aren’t able to exercise, don’t have time to or just don’t want to, this course is a must!
The next step is yours! Let’s connect and chat more!

When I really began to take my health and fitness seriously and started to lose a whole lot of weight, I stepped on the scale daily. I did this for probably 2.5 years, and in that time I lost about 25 pounds and then kept it all off. I didn't have a goal weight or certain amount I wanted to lose. It started knowing I needed to take a good 10 lbs off to start feeling better in my own skin, to start taking the added pressure off my knees and joints, and to save myself from having to buy all new clothes!
Then, something changed. I started to buy into the idea that the scale is a liar and we shouldn't be stepping on it so much. There was a huge problem in that logic though!
You see, in the past when I would start to get a little too complacent with my nutrition, I would catch it on the scale right away and tighten things back up. I had a solid handle on what worked for my body and what didn't. When I stopped stepping on the scale on a regular basis, I lost this control. I stepped on the scale every couple months when I was doing a new program, and the number was a little higher, but I didn't worry because I figured those extra 7 pounds would come off. Then, when they didn't, I started to tell myself things about the muscle I have gained or a host of other excuses. The reality, however, was that yes, I had gained muscle, but when I started to compare my pictures, there was more going on that just some muscle gain.
Please don't get me wrong, I am still in a healthy weight range, I still feel pretty good and don't look terrible, however, I can see and feel that I am not at my best! Note, I said my best, not my lowest weight. The scale also indicated to me when I weighed too little. For me, I know when I drop below about 135 lbs, I don't look and feel as good as when I am between 135-137. How do I know this? The Scale!
The scale isn't a liar, in fact, it is completely honest when it comes to our weight. The scale is simply a measure of the force of gravity on our body. The scale gives us information. What we do with that information is often where the lies creep in.
The scale is simply a number, it is not the only indicator of our health. The scale doesn't tell us how strong we are or how lean we may or may not be. The scale doesn't indicate how many inches we may have lost or gained or where those changes occurred. Most importantly, the scale is NOT an indicator of our worth!
Sadly, we live in a culture that doesn't like to take personal responsibility for ANYTHING. We are continually looking for someone or something to blame when we don't like how something is going for us. It's time to stop doing that! It is time to stop blaming others or situations for the things we are unhappy with. If you know you need to start losing weight, stop making excuses and do it.
Start by stepping on the scale! The scale isn't the enemy, our habits and thinking are!
Stop any other excuses you have and start taking responsibility for the things you can and see where that takes you. You will be amazed at the barriers you get through when you take responsibility.
I am not suggesting that there aren't real and legitimate hurtles some of you face. I am not saying that genetics and other medical factors may come into play. What I am saying is that for most of us, they don't the way we like to think they do. I am also suggesting that change can still happen, it may just happen slower for some that others.
I have begun a new nutrition program that is more like the most amazing online nutrition course of all time. It has re-opened my eyes to the scale. It has taught me so much more about nutrition than any other program I have done. It has given me fresh perspective and knowledge to drop this weight I have put on, and keep it off without having to count calories, containers or macros. It is also totally do-able without having to workout if you don't want to or aren't able to for whatever reason!
Be sure to check out my last post, Enough is Enough...Why I am Making a Shift and You Should Too, for more information and how to join me!
It is time we all stop demonizing the scale and see it for what it truly is...Information!

- Stop blaming the cost of food (I am actually paying less for food now that I am paying attention again).
- Stop saying you don't know where or how to begin and just figure it out! (Shoot, message me and we can start heading in the right direction together)
- Stop thinking you don't have time, because if it is important to you, you will find you have more than enough! This stuff only takes a tiny bit of time in the beginning to figure out, after that...NO EXTRA TIME!
- Stop blaming your build or genetics!

Seriously, enough is enough! I have done a great job following various fitness/nutrition programs 100% for the duration of the program, I go on and get killer results, and then as soon as it is over, I fall off the nutrition hard!
I have been able to maintain my weight within about 5-7 pounds the last several years, but I have fallen into a pattern of getting killer results, gaining 5 pounds, going wicked strict to lose it, then turn around and do it all over again.
That ends NOW!
I am excited to begin a new program that will help me establish a healthy relationship with food. I love that there won't be foods that are off limits or "off plan", so I won't feel the need to binge on them. I am ready for a mindset shift that won't have me counting containers or calories and just teach me real, healthy and sustainable eating that will keep me on track for life!
Why am I going to LOVE this (and you will too)?
1. I am going to get to eat a LOT (and you can too)!
I get to yummy food in large portions. I won’t have to change HOW MUCH I eat, count calories, or follow a restrictive “eating plan.” I will be gaining a changed mindset, which will allow me to say “YES” to the foods I LOVE while still losing weight, regardless of how much or little I choose to exercise.
2. I will finally gain CONTROl of what I am eating (and you can too)!
I am finally going to get a handle on that mindless snacking and emotional eating. I will be given proven strategies to shift my mindset in order to take control of my food. No more feeling guilty when it comes to food!
3. I will be able to LIVE my life while Losing weight (and you can too)!
I will be able to o out to parties, eat at restaurants, sit down with my family and friends family to a big, satisfying meal. I won’t have to eat special foods or feel like I am "dieting". Nothing is totally“off-limits”—even dessert or a glass of wine. I will be given simple principles to put into practice, so I can just go on living your life while losing and then maintaining weight.
Sounds too good to be true, right?
It's NOT too good to be true! Sure, it is going to take me some work in the beginning, but once I get it down, this will be the way ahead for me! Check out some of these insane results. These are results that keep on improving and don't go backwards.

I am making this change because I NEED it and I you probably do too! This is for you if:
- You know it's time to take care of your nutrition
- It is time to finally lose those unwanted pounds
- You want to maintain the healthy weight you have already established
- You don't want to be totally restricted in your foods
- You like to eat (and eat a lot)
- You are unable to exercise due to injury
- You don't like to exercise
- You don't want to exercise
- or, even if you do exercise
- You don't want to count calories
- You are sick of the yo-yoing
- You want to set a good example for your family
“’Til the Bell” is repeated over and over again in my current workout program (Core De Force). Basically this is an MMA style workout that is put together in 3 minute rounds that each end with a bell.
What would happen in your workouts if you always gave it your all “until the bell?” Think about competative spots, what would happen if you always ran all the way through first base, or past the finish line? What if you always played until the whistle blew? How much better would you be? How much stronger would you get? How much more success would you find?
Too many times did you pull up short? When did you not give your all and took away your chances of being safe, or from scoring a goal, or blocking an opponent or saving a ball from going out!
We give up on ourselves too soon or pull ourselves out of a play before it is over! When that happens, you always lose. You take away your chance for winning the point or play.
How much more successful would you be in your job if you used this Athlete Mentality in your workday. What if you actually worked ’til the bell? What if instead of packing up and walking out the door at three, you actually worked until three? What if you made that extra phone call instead of shutting down early?
What would happen if you started approaching relationships this way. What if you gave your relationships full attention and were actually fully present? What would your relationship look like if you actually spent time real time with someone while you were with them instead of messing around with your phone? What if instead, you were attentive when you were out together until you got home?
It’s time we stop selling ourselves short and conceding the out and start running through first base. It’s time to stop slowing down when we hear the final countdown, and instead push harder! You never know what can happen! At the very least, you are setting a good example for those around you and are preparing yourself to be better next time.

Do you remember how important confidence was when you were playing competative sports? Those with unshakeable confidence typically were most successful. So, what came first, the chicken or the egg? Were they confident because they were good or were they great because they were confident? You did catch that change in wording, right? I believe when someone is good at something they can gain a certain level of confidence, but to truly be great, I believe you must be confident first.
I am not actually here to debate that issue, thank goodness!
I do want to talk about confidence and it’s importance in being successful in our every day lives. I don’t know that anyone would deny that the more confident we are the better chance we are setting ourselves up for success, so how do we go about building and gaining confidence?
I would like to break it down to 6 steps, but I am sure you have others that you would add (don’t hesitate to share them with me in your comments).
6 Steps to Building Confidence
1. Fill your head with positive thoughts and images and then think on them and speak them out loud.Did you ever feel like you willed a ball to go in the basket by telling it what to do or talked a foul ball fair (or the other way around)? Our thoughts and words have tremendous power! We have seen and felt this occurs and it is even in scripture (Philippians 4:8, Proverbs 18:21)
When you visualize success, when you can truly see and feel it, you are better equipped to reach it. I remember shooting free throws, if I let any doubt in my head that I would make the shot, I tended to miss, but when I said I was going to make it and pictured me making it, that percentage went WAY up.
Think about how good you felt when a coach spoke about your strengths. Think about how good you felt leaving the locker room at half time to go take the court or field after you were just pumped up with words of encouragement? You can’t tell me words aren’t powerful!
2. Keep showing up, especially when things are hard. Action will build confidence!
Start by showing up for the things you enjoy in life. Showing up every day and taking some sort of action reminds you of things you are capable of. As you are more comfortable with that, start doing things that you find more challenging and things that may scare you. Don’t stress out about being awesome at them, just keep showing up and doing them! Taking action will continue to grow your confidence.
3. Set small goals along the way that you can achieve and celebrate on your way to bigger goals.
Goals and Goal setting are HUGE (and will be a blog topic). It is important we set goals that are challenging and that scare us a little, but it’s important to also break those goals down into smaller, more manageable chunks.
As you achieve some of your smaller goals you will gain confidence and momentum to keep moving forward.
4. Be aware of and continually work on your posture (body language).
We often don’t think of how our posture and body language plays into our confidence, but holy smokes, it does!
WAY back in the day, when I played basketball in college, my coach was ALWAYS yelling at us to get our hands off the bottom of our shorts and to stand up tall. This was a single to our opponent that we were tired, but it was also a signal to ourselves that we were. It doesn’t makes sense to be all hunched over when you can’t catch your breath, I mean think about it, it doesn’t help your breathing, right?!?
Our posture made a difference in how tired we thought we really were. By standing up tall we not only felt better physically, but we signaled to our brain we weren’t exhausted out of our minds!
When was the last time you took a deep breath and sat up straight with your head held high? Do that next time you have to make a tough phone call or send out a hard message. That small change in your posture gives you a better feeling of confidence.
Now, do you really want to feel like a bad a$$? Stand in the wonder woman pose before difficult conversations!
5. Faith it til you make it and Act the part
Don’t just fake it til you make it, but faith it. Know you will get here you want to be! Act the part. If you don’t feel confident, pretend you are. Stand like you are, talk like you are, ACT like you are! It is amazing how playing the part will help your confidence grow!
6. Stop comparing yourself with others or even a different version of you.
Have you heard “comparison is the their of joy?” Well, it’s also the killer of confidence! Don’t do it! No good can come from comparing yourself with anyone, not even a different version of yourself.
If you compare yourself to someone you are “better than” at something, you give yourself a false sense of security and may not work the way you need to. Let’s face it though, we usually compare ourselves to others, or a version of others that isn’t even reality. We start doubting ourselves, even in areas we were once confident. Please just stop! Don’t do it anymore!

Growing up there was hardly a point in time that I can remember sports not being a part of my life. I believe competative athletics are so crucial to growth and development. We know the typical “discipline, teamwork and fair play” lessons we should gain through sports, but if you didn’t learn the following, you did it all wrong! These are 25 of the lessons I gained through competative athletics.
Clearly this is not an exhaustive list of the life lessons gained through sports and competition! I would love for you to share this and “tag” you teammates or those that taught you these lessons and share which lesson was most important to you! What lessons would you have added?
- Not Everyone Wins
- Things aren’t always fair
- Anything can happen on any given day
- Preparation is important (Mental is as important, if not more so, than physical)
- Potential by itself get you nowhere
- Talent will only take you so far
- You need to have a clear vision
- Goal setting
- You can’t win on your own (even in individual sports you still have coaches and a support group of family and friends)
- You don’t have to be friends with everyone, but you do have to work together
- Never underestimate anyone
- Losing hurts, but if you learn from it you will build character
- You may not always care for, or even respect, your coach, but you MUST respect their position of authority
- The whole team is greater than the sum of it’s individual
- Confidence
- Results don’t happen over night
- Anything worthwhile is worth the effort
- It isn’t over until it’s over. Always push and keep working until the end
- You are stronger than you think
- Your biggest competitor may just become your best friend
- Winning isn’t everything, it isn’t the only thing, but is certainly an important goal. Winning also isn’t always defined by a number or score, it could be more than that!
- The relationships you make along the way are invaluable
- You must respect the game, the rules, and those involved in it
- You must to have fun and enjoy what you are doing
- You need to teach and pass on what you know because you won’t be able to play forever

I use to try to chase after this moment because I thought it defined me and was my identity. Winning this state championship in high school, with my sister, was a great moment and incredible memory, but it was not and is not who I am (although, it is a part of who I am).
When my competitive athletic career was over, I felt lost and didn't know who I was anymore.
I will always be an athlete, but my identity is so much more than that. I am a daughter of The King (which makes me a princess, by the way).
Sometimes it is hard to move on, and we try too hard to live in the past. It is like we are looking for those "glory" days to last forever, but they don't, and they shouldn't!
God has so much more out there for each and every one of us. He wants us to keep chasing after and finding new memories and live for each moment, not old ones!
He wants us to continue to press on toward new goals and new heights. He wants us to live the amazing and abundant life He has for us!
If you aren't living the amazing and abundant life God has for you, Begin your Pursuit today!

So many of us are living in our past. We are either living in the good old glory days, or we are dwelling on in past struggle or hurt. Either way, we are spending too much time there! We are spending too much time and energy thinking in the past and not enough time focusing on the here and NOW.
There is no point wasting time in the past! The past has happened and it can't be changed.
Then there also are those of us who spend too much time focusing on the future. We are focusing on what we want to come, or worse, we are focusing on all of the potential pitfalls we will encounter.
We don't start things we know we should because we are looking for the perfect time, even though there is no such thing!
Isaiah 43:18-19 says "Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not; See, I am doing something new! NOW it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the wilderness I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers.
God is doing something right NOW in your life. There is something that He wants for you NOW, not years ago, not years ahead, right NOW!
Pay attention. He is doing it right this very moment whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Stop focusing and dwelling in the past (the good places or bad). You must allow Him to work in you. You must approach each day with the anticipation of what He has for you! This is when you can truly begin living and truly start to experience Him and His presence.
You must move into the here and NOW!
Focus on what you can do today!

Do the work, reap the rewards...it is that simple!
If you have goals, you need to put in the work required to achieve them. It isn't always easy and it isn't always pretty, but it is necessary. You won't always have the support of others, in fact, many times you will hear the "haters" out there telling you how crazy you are and that maybe you are even being "obsessed" over working toward your goal.
Don't let them stop you! They are the same people who will come back later and tell you how "lucky" you are to be where you are. If it is fitness, they will say how lucky you are to have lost weight, inches, or even have abs! If it is work you may hear how "lucky" you were to have gotten that promotion. If it is relationships, you may hear how "lucky" you are to be in a good one!
You know the reality is that you did the darn work! The harder you work, the luckier you will become!
