What is purpose, and more importantly, what is YOUR purpose? We need to figure that out before we can talk about truly living it out, right? To me, purpose is taking all of the unique gifts and talents you have been given and blessed with and using them in a way that honors and serves God and His people. It took me, what felt like, forever to figure out how my gifts (that seemed super random to me) fit together. Regardless of your purpose, whatever it is, you must take care of YOU and YOUR HEALTH in order to fully live it out. You must be taking care of your physical, mental and spiritual health. If you are out of balance in these areas, you can not fully live out your purpose, regardless of what you think. If you don't maximize your energy, how does that effect your purpose? If you are constantly tired and run down, how is that preventing you from living to the full? It is time to start paying attention to what you are fueling your body with! It is time to start getting in some physical activity on a regular basis! It is time to start making sure you are getting enough sleep! It is time to start resting your mind! It is time to start filling up your soul! If you truly want to live out your purpose, it is time you begin to take your overall health more seriously.

There are many points and times where we will find ourselves motivated, but how do we go about sustaining and amplifying our motivation in order to achieve success? Too many people fail because they allow themselves to get distracted by losing their clear vision of what they want. We must be intentional about our attention to our goals. We must set time aside to give that vision attention so that it is always in the forefront of our mind and will help keep us motivated and better focused when distractions come our way. Next, we must put in some effort take action every day. Without action, it won't matter how much we believe and expect success. Without effort and action it won't matter how clear our vision is. Without effort and action, our goal cannot be achieved. So, the next question is how do we amplify that motivation? We must be acutely aware of our attitude and our environment. We must be very intentional and directive with our thoughts. We must choose a positive attitude, a grateful attitude, and attitude of joy! When we are faced with challenges, we must not look at how hard something may be or what we may lose by doing it, but focus on the positives, the ways we will change, the new things we will be able to do! We must be aware of our environment and create a positive physical and emotional place for us to thrive. If you have a weightloss goal, be sure to set up your kitchen environment so that it will help you succeed. Clear out the junk and bring in more of the good foods your body needs. Prepare your refrigerator and cabinets so the things you want to eat more of are easily accessible. Surround yourself with others who are striving toward the same kinds of goals. Spend time with people who will support you and not try to talk you into "cheating." Surround yourself with the kind of people that will lift you up when you are struggling and will challenge you to always be better. Spend time with those that will lovingly kick you in the butt when you need it, but support you through it at the same time! In order to sustain and amplify your motivation, you need to be sure you are intentional with your attention and effort as well as your attitude and environment.

In order to become more, you must continually be learning and feeding your mind. Jim Rohn tells us that to be successful "work harder on yourself than you do your job" because "success is not to be pursued, it is to be attracted by the person you become." I have continued to take my personal development and growth seriously making sure I am reading and/or listening to books every day. If this isn't something you have gotten in the habit of doing, I challenge you to make it a goal to read and/or listen to 12 books this year. Shoot for a book a month! There are so many incredible books, blogs and podcasts out there. I have compiled my top 12 list from the many books I read or re-read in 2017 .

I have created a Facebook community for those looking to set and smash goals with their fitness and nutrition. I would love to have you join us at Finding My Fierce When the new year hit and you thought about wanting something better for yourself, whatever it may be, a motivation was sparked. For you it may be a better job or promotion. To feel and/or look better. To finally pay off debt. Whatever it is, you had a spark of motivation. The bigger, badder and bolder that want, the more motivation you may feel at the onset. The problem is, don’t most people want more from and for themselves? If we don’t fan that spark, motivation can die. People may want to lose weight, yet they aren’t actually motivated to start. This is something I run into ALL the time in my work. Brendan Bouchard hits the nail on the head when he says that the trouble is people lack expectancy. Even though people may want or hope for change, if they don’t expect it, they either won’t start or won’t continue long enough for change to happen. I looked at that darn p90x infomercial over a 100 times over the course of 2 years. I didn’t believe that it could work like they said, and if it did, I didn’t believe I could get results like they said. Even though I knew I needed change and wanted it, I didn’t have the motivation to invest because I didn’t believe I could be successful. I did finally order when I believed in myself and expected to see change. I didn’t expect infomercial change, but I believed in me and the product enough to know that change could happen and that I didn’t need to look like the infomercial to be successful. “Expectancy is the great differentiator between mere hope and motivation.” Brendon Burchard Those athletes that are often called “clutch” players are are those players that always expect to win, to hit the big shot when it matters. They might not do it every time, but every time they believe they will expect to do it. You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them - Michael Jordan If you are lacking motivation, start looking at your belief in you. Start to retrain your mind by visualizing yourself being successful. Start to see, feel, touch and taste what that victory will be like for you. What would it mean to you and your family to reach that goal? Stop hoping for things to happen for you. Expect great things and then do the work to achieve them!

I have created a Facebook community for those looking to set and smash goals with their fitness and nutrition. I would love to have you join us at Finding My Fierce In The Motivation Manifesto Brendon Burchard talks about the idea that fear is poor mind management. When I heard him say it, it made me a little mad, mainly because it is so true! I like to think of myself as strong and not weak minded, but when I let fear get the better of me, it's because I choose to allow it to! Our minds are so much more powerful than we ever want to give ourselves credit for. We have the power to choose how we are going to react to struggles and challenges that come our way. We have been conditioned and programed to believe that fear is normal and good. Aside from the real fear of true physical harm, how can fear be good? Is it really a good motivator? Maybe it can be for a short time, but in the end, it's not. Shouldn't we be more motivated by the positive outcomes we can face vs. those things we may lose? Humans are capable of incredible things! We are capable of learning and doing almost anything we want to if we work hard enough over a long enough period of time. We need to stop focusing on what we may lose or focusing on hard something may be and instead start focusing on what we will gain and how much better we will become! The idea of not going after something important because it is going to be hard is absurd when you look at the amazing things that have come from hard work! It is time to start to re-program our minds! It is time to start focusing on benefits vs losses! It is time to keep doing the hard things! It is time to practice those things that challenge and may scare us until they don't anymore. Stop allowing fear to get in the way because of poor mind management. "Are you not more than your tiny worries about inconvenience? Isn't a better life worth some struggle?" Brendon Burchard.

I would love to have you join us at Finding My Fierce Ah, the age old question "what comes first, the chicken or the egg?" I believe we can ponder a new question in a similar way..."What comes first, motivation or action?" There are times when I believe we are very motivated and it drives our action, however, I have not only heard and read, but experienced that sometimes you need to take action before you find motivation. This is why habits are so crucial to moving ahead and reaching our goals. There are more days than I care to admit that I am not motivated at all to make work calls or get a workout in for the day, but more times than not, after a few calls or 5 minutes working out, I find that motivation that pushes me to finish strong! I wish this was true all the time, but the reality is that there will be some days that even after you start doing that dreaded activity, you don't find yourself any more motivated to finish. What do you do the? DO IT ANYWAY!

I have created a Facebook community for those looking to set and smash goals with their fitness and nutrition. I would love to have you join us at Finding My Fierce It's that time of year when we really start to think about and focus on our Goals. I recommend we don't just to this at the beginning of the year, but that we are evaluating and setting goals more regularly. There are so many tips to help us move in the direction of hitting out goals, but the biggest is TAKING ACTION! Do not allow yourself to fall victim to analysis paralysis! Do not spend so much time perfecting a plan and researching the best ways to get something done that you never take action to get there! Sometimes the best thing you can do is anything. This isn't to say that the action you start with is going to be what you need to do, but it will get you going in the right direction. You then need to continually evaluate where you are at and determine the next best course of action. How many times have you allowed yourself to become so overwhelmed with the possible ways to reach a goal that you froze and didn't do any of them? I challenge you to set a goal, set a scary goal and then, once it is written down immediately take some sort of action toward reaching it (even if it is just marking your calendar with what time you will work on it tomorrow)! Take a look at what I shared live on my Facebook page about taking Action.
